My point being, running a car on high octane fuel can be beneficial, but problems will start occurring if the octane rating is too high or if the fuel has ethanol in it.

If the car is mapped for it yes it will be beneficial otherwise you will lose power.

In Sweden we got 5% ethanol in all petrol, they will probably increase this to 10% if the government gives its approval. Never had any problems with it in the Cossie.
