Depends how old it is? if its a few years old then probably not worth replacing.

Have you checked to see if you can claim on the house insurance? some people do

ive just had a new screen put in my dell laptop, my little girl did a roly-poly and hit the screen with her foot, it went dark on one side, got it replaced by dell, just said it went like that of its own accord (its only 8 months old)

See how much similar spec ones are on websites etc and then get a quote for the screen and weigh it up that way

The cheapest way is to buy a similar one, same make and screen size with a different fault off eBay, then swop the screen.
There's hundreds of them.

it won't be worth buying a new one for your's.

you can usually download the service manuals for the laptop so you can do it properly. screens dont cost much on ebay.
