I would say £160 for a plasterer for a full days work was expensive, in a day you would expect a 5x4Mtr room plastered, how big is your bloody hall for someone to spend 4days on it?!?!?!?!?

I think the prices vary with plasterer to plasterer. I had a bedroom done which is about 12ft x 9ft, had the ceiling plasterboarded and walls skimmed. Then had the stair area done which was a straight run up to the first floor with new plasterboard on the lowered ceiling. I paid about £1500 for that about 6 years ago. The lad who done it done a fantastic job so I didnt mind paying out for it.

People who want tradesmen to do work for fuck all piss me off...............

It is this simple.......You cant do it!!!!!

You are paying for the knowledge that this man has to do the job to a good standard.....

It is the people that want to pay fuck all that moan about the job when its done.....

So you wont pay him £580 to do your work as you think he is taking the piss.....as YOU think it will take him a day!!!!

So if he quoted you £400 and it took him a week........Would you offer him more money????????.......Didnt think so.

Its the same in my Trade....Plumbing......... People seem to think..."Oh, is that all you had to do"!!!!!!!!!!!!

plastering is a horrible job and there is a lot of skill to it.

my old man is a builder and can plaster but he hates it and gets a young lad in who is shit hot.he works for 180 a day but gets a lot done.
he is doing my bathroom next week,my dad did my kitchen to keep costs down but he didnt enjoy it!!!

Why, is there no skill involved? Possibly THE most skilled trade of all the building trade

But look how much mechanics can charge per day... if you dont know how to do something you have to pay someone who does, and that pay will no doubt be reflected in the quality of the end product

I wasn't happy with the finish so used different people each time as I had never used one before and had been given no recommendations

All the people moaning about the cost are probably office pen pushers or jobs that dont need skill and manual graft

It REALLY gets my fucking goat.......

It would be like----

Shall i take my car to a PROPER tuner that has years of experience, the proper tools and knows what they are doing to get it mapped for £500

OR

Little Johnny down the road has a laptop and lead that plugs into the ecu and he says he can do it for £80

Yep ya right mark. Tony teabag charged me iirc 250 quid just to hook mine up to the pectel monitor or whatever it was regardless of what else happened. He told me 'i can put it on the monitor but as soon as i do its 250' ....if thats the price then thats it...it went on. Same thing......

Should of gone to Little Johnny........he had a lead for that aswell.....£80

Exactly Lee........You couldnt do it and didnt have the tools......The teabag did and he got your £250....not a problem.

It just seems that the likes of us in the Construction trade understand these things.........

And people wonder why the country is in such a fucking mess........ "Well Mr Tiff, we had a Polish Plumber round ast week and he said he could fit our full heating system for £20.....................We are going with him"

2 weeks later

"And finally on the news tonight................... A familys home has just exploded after an illiegal imigrant fitted a gas boiler into the house as he was cheaper than the guy that has 15 years experience and knows how to do it PROPERLY.............They thought they would save a few quid"

Oh god mate it happens all the time. We are always getting undercut. You can tell in the first 2 minutes of going to see a job what the customer is like...you just think ;this one wants it doing for fuck all' and ya know for a fact ya not gonna get it...then a few months go by and you drive past and see the fuckin MESS I always chuckle and think serves ya right!

Whats so hard about plastering that makes it worth that amount of money?? There are so many other jobs out there that are far more technical and demanding that dosent pay anywhere near that?
