Default Sapphire front spring 4x4 instead 4x2

Hi,

Who had fitted Sapphire front spring 4x4 on Sapphire 4x2 ?
(on serial 4x2 shock absorber)
Reason is front spring 4x4 is more hard than 4x2.

What modifications are necessary ?

Thanks by advance.

Regards.

be careful as the shock absorber struts are different length between the bottom spring cup and the hub carrier. i believe that 4x4 stuts are shorter and use a shorter spring, so if you put them onto a 2wd you could be too low or have problems with the spring falling out on full extension.

Hi, ForeignRS,

It is impossible to fit 4wd front spring in 2wd shock absorber without modification.
Reason is bottom spring cup is too hight on 2wd shock absorber.
Result : bad = front car is 100mm higher than normal level.

For your info, i had measured 2wd and 4wd serial springs
2 wd
free lenght : 390 mm diam. wire : 11 mm flexibility : 13 Newton / mm
4 wd
free lenght : 290 mm diam. wire : 15 mm flexibility : 40 Newton / mm

Regards.

they would physically fit, but you would never want to - if it was 100 mm lower the front drive shafts would pop out almost straight away.
