Someone has logged in to my ebay account and changed my password, i think i know who it was.

Ebay supplied me with some numbers ip address or something.

Can anybody tell me what i should do with these numbers.

I am assuming i will be able to tell which workstation it was altered from with these number's.

Do i get in touch with the police or just let ebay know about it or what.

I changed my password again now so they can't access it again, any help or info would be great thank's in advance.

 

There is very little you can do - just make the password harder to guess and thats it really. An IP address is a unique number assigned to an internet session - ie. it could be 1 in a trillion computers, and the number is random generally - so no chance of finding who it is tbh

 

I.P addresses can usually be traced to close to the source.

I.P are block allocated to service providers who can usually trace who was using an I.P at any one time.

It is possible to Spoof an address (create a fake) which are probably impossible to trace after the event, unless you are one of the mysterious American intelligence agencies.
