He has to go to Magistrates court though to face the charge of speeding. Don't think he'll get off that one

That was five years ago - things probably would be very different in today's "speed is bad" obsessed society .

Mr Tyre!!!!!

Fair play to him!! Only admitted to 95mph, and the fact that the police car 'let' him carry on going at 100+ by not pulling him straight away!!! The coonts were probably unmarked and up his arse, then got pissed off when he blew them into the weeds!!!!!

And I'd be interested to know how they caught him doing 145mph when the cop car top speed was only 140mph!!!!! Sounds like a guess to me!!

Thats a common tool of the police IMO. 'In our expert opinion'. That translates to 'We have no proof'.

well the thing is he was still doing in excess of 140mph, they could have ripped the ass out of it and said he was doing 160mph or so... to be honest i think they were quite reasonable.

good job on getting away with the DD carry on though

nice car too!

how the fook did he get away with that

back in 2000 i was caught doing 80mph in a 30mph (empty wide road, no traffic or pedestrians) was only speeding for 20 secs and i got charged with dangerous driving

finally got it brought down to careless driving so escaped a year ban but got a 42 day ban instead

the summing up i got was : as the road i was speeding on (71 in a 50) was such a dangerous road, that they had no choice but to convice me of dangerous driving!

Speed in itself is not dangerous and to satisfy the CPS charging standard he must fulfill two criteria:

(i) the way he was driving falls FAR BELOW what which would be expected of a competent and careful driver AND:
(ii) it would be obvious to a competent and careful driver that driving in that way would be dangerous.

I think it is fair to state that a high powered car with good brakes and an experienced driver could be safe driving at well over a ton in the right conditions. I'm not endorsing speeding but always believed that speed is only appropriate in some circumstances. After all the police drive at up to 150 mph on Advanced driving courses and that isn't considered dangerous.

lol, a mate of a mate was driving his van down a b road and a copper overtook him - with his lights flashing - on a blind bend, smack head on into a oncomming car around the corner!

Someone was caught on a A road near torquey [devon] last week doing 145, they said it was the highest recorded speed in the county on the news.. Sounds like theres a record to be broken to me!
