Gosh mate, this is personal choice stuff. I'll give my views but rest assured there will be many more.
A three door is a much better head turner from my experience.
A saff is a better drive and better for comfort.
So I've got one of each

a cossie so dont know whats better shall i finish the 3 door or buy a saph
You say the saph is a better drive can i ask in what way?
it cant have been much of a rebuild to then sell the car for £1500?
anyway, i prefer a rwd saph. i was considering a 3 door a few years ago but when i sat in a 28000 mile 3 door it just looked and felt so dated inside. that put me off.

the guy said no chance this was a while ago he came back to my mate on friday and said he still had it and no work does he still want the cossie me mate said not really but if hes desperate i will have it so they done a dealon £1500 the rebuild cost him over 3k he was just simply skint

Hi again,
I find that three doors tramline a bit and just dont feel so taught generally. Possibly because of the huge rear boot opening and the flexing side of things. The Saff feels a lot more refined, mines a 2wd btw.
Personally, and many will disagree, I think the 2wd saff is more what cossies are about as a day to day car.

I think a lot just associate the 3 door more readily with cossie as this was the first one, and the shape everyone remembers at the time kicking beemers A**E!!
I prefer the looks of the sapph, don't like the 3 door at all, have owned a xr4i(dad still does,V8) the shell on the sapphy is a LOT more rigid you can feel it just driving.
I look at it this way, the 3 door is the offspring of the 2wd and and 4wd sapphy when they go together, ie the 3 door is hooligan whereas the sapphy is very understated and restrained looks, but each to thier own, condition would be a major factor at the age that both of the cars are at though.

Put all your effort into finishing the 3 door IMO. Get through your uncertainty, finish what you started, focus on the one project and when it's finished you'll be proud of yourself that you did a good job. Then either enjoy it or sell it.
Then buy a Sapph if you fancy one.

Buy the £2k 2WD saff, sell it on eBay for a profit. Rebuild the 3dr, sell it on eBay.
Then buy a 4x4 Saff. You will be called boring by all the 2WD Cossie owners... as you pass the tree they are wrapped around.

... are those the trees we past about an hour before you Turbo mate??? Ha ha ha
It really is all down to personal choice imho. But if you get the 2wd for a while at that price you'll sell it on easy - as said. They are defo getting rarer as 4x4 drivers wrap them around trees apparently
Sorry to joke around - enjoy the saff but spend some time on the 3dr if you can afford it.

agree with Andypen, I had a saph first, and then sold it to buy a 3 door.
The 3 door is much better looking, But the 2wd saph is generally a better car.
The 3 door i can feel the body flex when i turn in tight or uneven camber., it like fights with ya like a slight pendulum feel at the rear. And on the motorway you gotta be careful as it can be very snatchy. The saph feels much sturdier and all i could feel was a lack of grip from the tyres, no tramlining. A more comfortable feel when driving long distance too.
It's down to you mate, but either way they 3dr wont be worth anything if its left like it is .

still not sure i have read all your comments i might get the saph and break it to finish the 3 door but i only need to spend about a 1k to finish it maybe 1500 but like i said if i buy the saph i have to get rid of the 3 door
I think i might finish the 3 door you know its not often you see 1 where as i see a few saphs regullarly i only want the saph cos its on the road and the 3 door aint that is the only reason
The 3 door it is then

Owne a 4x4 cossie 12 yrs ago, best car ive ever owned but it was only 3yrs old,had a 3dr was never sure when driving it, now own a shonky 2wd saff, best value for money, feels just right when driving, turns in nice, not the under steer of the 4x4,and not as twichy as the 3dr,bu it doesnt have the presence of a 3dr,orses for corses only you can decide, ither way would buy the saff and take 1k profit out of it,what ever you decide

dont want to be rude mate but it sounds like you just want confirmation of what you want to do so stop farting around buy the saph sell it for a bit of a profit and plough it into the 3dr....then get some pics up on here of both cars......job done.
damn was a little to slow with that post!!!

if i have the saph the other has to go
I have the rwd sapph as i dont like the way the older models drive, also owned a 500, as the 3dr will always command a higher price and just looks superb i would get it finished, if you dont like the way it drives once finished get rid and buy a decent sapph, a 2k shitter will cost you alot of money to run, wouldnt trust anyone wanting to sell one quick either, mate or not, doesnt sound right to me, finish the 3dr.
Also who re-built it, if not done properly or by your mate in his garage the first time you come on boost it will shit itself and you will have a huge bill to pay for.

looks like you gonna have spill the beans on the id of the saphs owner and win some friends on here pal
dont think you are indecisive just need reassurance knowing that doing the 3dr is the right choice

saff's are cheaper than 3dr.
ive got moonstone saff and love it to bits, and 2wd
would have a 3dr tho,getting alittle pricey for a good 1 .
take both on test drive and see what takes your fancy

alot of what was being said here is correct
ive owned 2x4x4 saphs
my 3-door
and i have a 2wd saph
ive had 35+ sierras and all mk2s
i thought the 3-door would be dated and feel shit inside but its practically identical cockpit minus the clocks
the saph is a little more refined and it is a stronger shell, due to having the rear shelf part as part of body, reduces flexing
ive put a rear strut brace in my 3 door and it feels alot better on roundabouts
the 4x4 saph is the nicest to drive
i just love rwd though so hence ive got 2

Just come back from a run in my 2wd saff - I stick to my original comments about the drive quality. 3 doors are much rarer now and I have to say I only got the odd glance in the saff today. In the five hundy its nearly all the time!

ive got a 4x4 saff cossie. I love it to bits but in my eyes the original cossie is the 3 dr. People say the saffs drive better but you will get more looks in a 3dr. Buy that 2wd saff and i will swap you my 4x4 saff for the 3dr n the 2we saff lol.
