Clarksons Cossie V Imprezza vid
I'm involved in a discussion on Scoobynet. Some of the numbnuts actually beleive the Scoob was an even match
Does anybody know what tweeks the MA Developments car was. Especially in the suspension and braking dept

Just ask Mark to go over there and tell the full story. That would be easiest and put an end to it all....
I believe the 5 minute race actually took 2 hours to film from start to finish IIRC...

They couldn't believe what happened on the day, various different drivers tried each car and the results were the same, basically I guess that the circuit they had set up suited the power delivery and the 'slighty' adjusted chassis of the Scoob
As they say; 'we'd 'ave 'im in the twisties'
I remember reading the magazine article on it at the time. IIRC, it said something like "under acceleration, the cossie just rocketed away from the scoob", but claimed the scoob made it all back under braking / in the corners. I don't know what the cossie had done to the chassis, but a Type R with the Leda's (assuming set up properly), and uprated Brembo brakes is probably going to be a fair bit quicker braking / round corners than a standard cossie (or a standard scoob). If it was a fairly tight, twisty track, being massively fast on the straights is only a small amount of having good lap times. And whilst it may have been a fair bit slower, it's not as if a 308bhp Type R is slow on the straights.

The spec of my car on that day 402hp/401ftlb, koni shocks standard springs/brakes worn out tires
payed me for a new set aswell after they burnt them out
,
The cars where timed round the circuit Scoob Vicky and a Grp n driver dont know his name, My car clarkson and Me
both lapped the same time either Clarkson is a better driver than we think or I am crap
I did 2 laps my first was the same as Clarkson 2nd I cocked up and went wide
,
Both Clarkson and Vicky said the scoob could not live with the Escort in a straight line so the Scoob made it back in the turns,
I am happy about the cars timed the same but the staged race made the Escort look slow on the straight but the result would have been the same if it had been a proper race.

It was an 1998 Sti V Type R, fitted with a fully Scoobysport 2.5 inch exhaust system from the turbo back, Leda C coil overs, Scoobysport Brembos with floating 304mm discs, 17 inch gold Speedline Alessios with 215x40x17 Bridgestone S02's
308bhp

In fact, std v std, it would have killed it!

I guess the escort was last of the old breed and the scooby the start of the new tricks
Rich, not just because the Escort would have been well down on power compared to the standard scoob
As stated by Mark 'koni shocks standard springs/brakes worn out tires' so i reckon the cossie done pretty bloody well!
Mark - Just out of curiosity, what did Clarkson think about the car in general?
