Default SLR Camera peeps... edited - i bought a Nikon D60

Im looking at buying a digital SLR camera, like the sound of the Nikon D80 and have came across this deal on ebay which seems very good

The important parts of the £600 kit are

NEW Nikon D80
Nikon 18-55mm DX II Auto focus Lens
Nikon 70-300mm DX Auto Focus Lens
0.5 X professional high Definition wide Angle Lens With land case
2X Converter
Professional full size Tripod

as well as a host of other extra's inlcuded in the 30 piece kit

The advert is here http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/NEW-Nikon-D80-...dZp1638Q2em122

Can anyone lend me any advice or give their opinions please...

thanks in advance, Ben

Cool, get the pics up when you get some taken

Slight change of plan at my end, i decided against the camera from abroad option and have just bought a Nikon D60 with the new 18-55mm VR and 55-200 VR lenses.

Cant wait to get it

Yeah tell me abot it, the more i look into this the more i can see money oozing out from the gaps in my wallet

I noticed the only lens you have with the VR is the 18-55... how do you find your free hand shots with the longer lenses?

Dying to get my camera now, it should arrive at my doorstep the day i get home from holiday

^^ Cool pic

Looks like a lot of kit!

I must admit I am getting the bug now! I bought a Canon 450-D for my birthday with the standard 18-55 lens and have already bought a 50-200mm lens and a crumpler bag, I still need a lens hood and I like the idea of a mini laptop to view them on a lot! what a great idea! that said the screen on the 450 is pretty big.

Originally I just wanted a decent camera to get good pics, kids are only kids once, but finding myself turning in to a bit of a geek!

Took this with it yesterday

Alot to spend on your first slr, as they are pretty hard to use properly and you might get bored lol. I have one of these.

It wasnt too bad tbh, camera body and the 2 VR lenses cost me £460 from the UK

Ive been taking pics for ages, but only with a run of the mill point n shoot digital camera, i recently bought the new Panasonic Lumix TZ5 camera but im finding it cant produce the images i want it to hence upgrading to the D60, so i dont think its a flash in the pan sort of purchase, lol.

have you got any examples of photos youve taken with that camera?

Nice pic of the lake, but I felt like giving it a bit of post-processing!! What do you think?

Its just a pity the sky was washed out in the original, hopefully this could be corrected, if the original was shot in RAW format.

its like anything, just practice. you can get good shots all the time on auto but its when your being creative you need to master skills like lighting, depth of field and shutter speeds and if your buying a SLR you dont buy it to keep in auto.

a good eye for a photograph always helps and the camera wont make the photographer the photographer makes the camera...

i have a canon 400d
1.8 50mm prime
2.8 17-55 sigma
70-300is canon
430ex speedlight

oh and the 17-50mm canon kit lens

i soooo want to replace the sigma with the canon 17-55is lens but its 600 notes...

Gareth, i don't mean to be an arse but that shot is under exposed, nice view though.

how are you finding the D60? Have you considered a prime lens for it yet? Something cheap like the 50mm f1.8 gives great results but you'll have to focus manually unfortunately.

Matt.

that D60 comment wasn't aimed at you, gareth at RED16, i should have been clearer.

Sory if you took that the wrong way but i meant that constructively. It's definately underexposed though, time of day has nothing to do with it.
