Is the iPhone worth £350? Not to me (I have one) it isn't...
However, it does depend on how much you use your phone and for what. Two differenct CPW staff have told me that taking a PAYG iPhone deal will give you 12mths free wifi and 3G access (ie, ANY data used will be free for a whole year, and the wifi deal is 12ths free subscription to the Cloud network, which operate all over the place). After 12mths, to continue getting 3G data access and wifi subscriptions, you need to top up £10 a month (of which the whole £10 can be used with calls and texts, and it's purely the "top up" activation per month that carries your data and wifi subscriptions on every month)
So, if you don't make many calls and texts, but what to use as much data, either 3G cell net or wifi, then yes, you'd be better off with it....
First year is gonna cost you £350 + whatever you use in calls and texts. After that it's a tenner a month minimum, plus whatever else you use in calls and texts. So if you only use on average £15 a month in calls and texts, then you better off with the PAYG version as you pay your £15 a month for calls and texts, and get all your 3G data useage free.
You can break it down like this;
£99 + £35 per month for 18 mths is gonna cost £730 for the contract term - equivelent to £487 per year (12mths)
Go PAYG, working on a basis of £15 a month credit, for 12mths, will see you spend £350 (handset) + 12x £15 = £530 for the year : £43 more
But the next year only costs you 12x £15 credit, so £180, as opposed to the £420 contract cost
So round all that up to 18mths to compare directly with an 18mth contract and you get this;
CONTRACT : £100 (handset) + 18x £35 = £730 (18mths)
PAYG : £350 (handset) + 18x £15 = £620 (18mths) £110 CHEAPER
So you could be better off in the first year alone - not to mention another 18mths on contract will cost £630, or 18mths on PAYG @ £15 a month will cost £270, a huge £360 a year less

so basicly after 12v months its kinda like a contract i have to put a tenner a month on for them then maybe another tenner or so for calls/texts etc thats no good surely?
im currently on orange its great 10 a month top up gives me 300 free texts and i still have my tenner to spend on tools.
was my b day yesterday and i have some free cash so i really want i iphone, might aswell get 3g as the internet will be fast.
but i feel thats wrong to charge a tenner a month, basicly a tenner a month for the internet, cheeky fuckers
or did i missread your post and you still have your tenner to spend on calls?

£10 (wifi+web) + £10 (calls+texts) = £20 a month. Contract = £35 a month. So it's £15 a month cheaper. Over a year thats £180 saved. Now I don't know about you, but I wouldn't class £180 in my pocket as "no good"
And don't call me shirley

Couple to that you get a "The Cloud" subscription thats normally £6.99 a month on it's own meaning you get access to the largest mobile wifi network in the country, thats not a bad deal...Re-read my post....

It'll only be a 2G, like mine, so don't expect it to be fast for web over the cell nets, but at that price who gives a fuck
Even if you don't like it you can sell it for a ton and make profit

1) 3G network reception/access
2) GPS access (far more pinpoint than cellular triangulation)
3) All-plastic case (instead of the aluminium case on the first phone)
How'd ya do an iPhone screen grab then? I did jailbreak my 3g but put it back after I found safari to be crashing and longing load up times for everything not to mention far reduced battery times! On the while though I love my iPhone, again types from an iPhone!

Yes - but only just!
I'll let you play with mine Friday
Hold the home button and press the sleep/wake button and the screen will flash and you'll hear the camera sound

I jailbroke mine the other day and Safari keeps turning itself off (Not the sleep mode on the phone
) and my battery lasts 1 day atm. Might re-set it through IPhone.

Funny, but my iphone does MMS and video recording, I don't need changeable memory cards (I never even used them in my Nokia's - and they came free with that
) and used video calling about 2 times before realising it was swag and you look like a prick shouting into a phone you're holding 2ft away from you
So whats your point

Depends on your wireless router. iPhone is both 802.11b and 802.11g compatible, with .11b being 11Mbps, and 11g being 54Mbps.
Of course it will never reach those speeds as the internal processor is only 620mHz or something, and the cache is tiny, but then it's a handheld so thats unsurprising
So even tho it can use that speed of wifi, it will always be held back by it's processing power - same as how old laptops etc aren't as quick to load and display web pages as new ones
But it's faster than 3G for sure... My server (which is also my router and wireless access point) is away for the moment, as it went fubar
So I can't use mine on wifi at the mo, and installing apps and updates is painfully slow over the cell nets (specially since mine is the 2G model) but I discovered MacDonalds do free wifi, so I took a 3 min drive up there yesterday, did all my updates in a quarter of the time, and installed two new apps, and had the added a bonus of a cheeseburger while I waited
