I am not an electrician but I do no its tied into alsorts and I do not believe there is a quick fix connect these two wire type solution.

Might be better getting a good willing auto electrician to look at it. What about the original key from the donor? Have you thought of that as a solution?

You will need the original key as it has a chip in it. Do you have the donor car? If so it will make it a lot easier!

i think this car will have "pats" (passive anti theft system). making it a right pain in the arse! one solution would be to get a loom and manifold from an earlier car..... like an rs1800 fiesta i think these had a better ecu and throttle body as well

iirc you'll need the original PATS key and the little doodah that clips around the ignition barrel. As said above, get an early Non pats ecu, not sure on the coding, I think its DUDE or something like that

he said you have got 2 options really 1 is find an early non pats ecu, or 2 find another escort gti and get the matching key and ecu, you can then get the little red chip out of the new key and fit it to your existing key for your actual car.

those are the easier options although he said there is a way round by adjusting some wires that come from the pats box which i think is in the drivers footwell kick panel or he seems to remember a company that will come and turn off the pats on the car but he couldnt remember where they were based, will ask him for more info tomoz see if he can think of owt. hth a lil bit
