Default wiper fault

the wipers on my series 1 turbo will not return to the parked position and when on intermitent wipe they will keep going constantly! they work fine, ie right speed etc and turn off fine they just wont return to parked position on their own... oh and sometimes they move slightly back towards park and it causes the car to missfire, checked the cables and the earths, no sign of loom burn out behind dash!

what do reckon? intermittant relay fault?

so far i have changed the motor the stalk and checked all the cables for continuity and voltage!

thoughts would be appreciated! cheers i am thinking about setting fire to it!!!!

On the S2 the wipers share the same earth connection as the engine ECUs. I would double check this connection first as you mention a misfire which a poor earth connection at this earth can cause.

At the wiper motor you should have a permanent +12v and a permanent earth. You should also have a pulsed +12v to trigger the wipers when on the intermittent wipe which changes to a permanent +12v when on full speed.

If the wipers fail to park then i would think its either a faulty/poor permanent +12v feed or a faulty/poor earth.

fixed it!!!!!!!!! turns out the contacts were covered in grease and copper grease inside the motor thing, causing the contacts to short out and the wiper park thing to go awol! and it to short out through the same earth as the fuel pump relay!
also series 1 and series 2 wiper delay relays are different series 1 has 5 pins. series 2 has 4!
cheers for help
