Angry The End Of The World On Wednesday

All be afraid! we're all gonna die!

But seriously who believes this crap? Its just a bunch of scientists doin an experiment to improve the planet if anything. It will just be like any other prediction . . . nothing will happen.
If it does god knows what excuse I will use for not going in work lol.

i dont understand the point. why do they need to know what exactly happened when the big bang created the universe. what benefits will come from knowing that that can benefit us in real life?

Even if it does... you won't really notice it. The whole world will seem slightly weird for a few seconds, and then you'll get sucked into a little hole along with the rest of the planet. (Or at least thats what the "conspiracy theorists" think (lol) )

What times it going down by the way?

Oh is this the "we're gonna create a force to replicate that of the big bang" thing? They doing it on Wednesday are they? Good-o, hopefully a few days off work then

I mean FFS....

1) how in the fuck do they know what force was involved when the earth was created, if it WAS created that way (not been proven)

2) Surely if they have the right force, which is indeed what created the planet in the first place, logic suggest it will probably destroy said planet when they fire it up, so they won't know anyway as they'll be vaporised (allegedly)

Waste of money grants/funding! Put it into finding renewable energy (I vote nuclear, fuck Chernobyl )

I something interesting does happen though. Been reading the hype for a few weeks now and it'll be kind of dissapointing of the planet doesn't explode/implode/turn into a haggis.....

Can their destroy stupidity in the head of the politics for example ? Oh yes they could, but then they would get nothing in their head. I guess it would still be better !

Am i the only one slighty worried, arn't they acclerating a particle into another one at speed under extreme pressure or somthing like, look what a nucleur bomb can do and that just 2 rods getting banged together lol not shot through a massive magnetic machine in the hope of creating a big bang lol, surley if a chain reaction occurs we are all fooked. it will bring benifits if it works if we can master nucleur fusion a thimble full of water could power a car for 100 years.

i dont know much about nuclear physics, but what i do know is that its not gonna set offsome kind of chain reaction and set a nuke off

The largest machine in the world...

The precise circumference of the LHC accelerator is 26 659 m, with a total of 9300 magnets inside. Not only is the LHC the world’s largest particle accelerator, just one-eighth of its cryogenic distribution system would qualify as the world’s largest fridge. All the magnets will be pre‑cooled to -193.2°C (80 K) using 10 080 tonnes of liquid nitrogen, before they are filled with nearly 60 tonnes of liquid helium to bring them down to -271.3°C (1.9 K).
The fastest racetrack on the planet...

At full power, trillions of protons will race around the LHC accelerator ring 11 245 times a second, travelling at 99.99% the speed of light. Two beams of protons will each travel at a maximum energy of 7 TeV (tera-electronvolt), corresponding to head-to-head collisions of 14 TeV. Altogether some 600 million collisions will take place every second.

The emptiest space in the Solar System...

To avoid colliding with gas molecules inside the accelerator, the beams of particles travel in an ultra-high vacuum – a cavity as empty as interplanetary space. The internal pressure of the LHC is 10-13 atm, ten times less than the pressure on the Moon!

The hottest spots in the galaxy, but even colder than outer space...

The LHC is a machine of extreme hot and cold. When two beams of protons collide, they will generate temperatures more than 100 000 times hotter than the heart of the Sun, concentrated within a minuscule space. By contrast, the 'cryogenic distribution system', which circulates superfluid helium around the accelerator ring, keeps the LHC at a super cool temperature of -271.3°C (1.9 K) – even colder than outer space!

The biggest and most sophisticated detectors ever built...

To sample and record the results of up to 600 million proton collisions per second, physicists and engineers have built gargantuan devices that measure particles with micron precision. The LHC's detectors have sophisticated electronic trigger systems that precisely measure the passage time of a particle to accuracies in the region of a few billionths of a second. The trigger system also registers the location of the particles to millionths of a metre. This incredibly quick and precise response is essential for ensuring that the particle recorded in successive layers of a detector is one and the same.

The most powerful supercomputer system in the world...

The data recorded by each of the big experiments at the LHC will fill around 100 000 dual layer DVDs every year. To allow the thousands of scientists scattered around the globe to collaborate on the analysis over the next 15 years (the estimated lifetime of the LHC), tens of thousands of computers located around the world are being harnessed in a distributed computing network called the Grid

See now your all worried i told you soo, and it could be like setting a nucleur bomb of, a nucleur explosion is just a chain reaction set of by neutrons that under extreme pressure create massive heat and set of a chain reaction, a nucleur power station works by pushing plutonium rods together and the neutrons jump from one rod to the other causing heat so you run water around the rods that heats the water and creates steam that powers turbines that give you power, in a bomb its the same theory minus the water and a hell of a lot more pressure so the rods heat right up and cause a chain reaction and then bang you slit the plutonmium attoms and big big very big explotion, if the universe was suppose to start all from a attom, sure its not good to see how fast you can throw one around a dome and see what happens as it bangs into beams and shit.

Just my opion i havn't actually read anything about it so a lot of this could just be speculation from my half asleep mind

Anyone remember the Argentina goalkeeper from France 98 quarter final, Carlos Roa who quit his job at Real Zaragoza to prepare for the end of the world then when it didn't happen had to go crawling back but lost his place? Tit.

I think were all asking the wrong questions here, the main one being, how do the scientist know what will happen if they've never done this before, computer simulations are one thing but with something like this there are many variables, only one needs to be changed and every thing could alter, for good or for bad.

I kind of hope the world does end on Wednesday. Just to avoid any delay in impending doom!
