Loop-hole in Average speed cameras (get away with it!)
In average speed check areas in the uk, there is 1 huge flaw that will never be fixed. It was in the paper not so long ago, and it said if you change lanes during the check, it loses your car. The government admitted this and said "we rely on the fact that no road users will take this information and misuse it."
This was on the papers ages ago - at least a year I'd recon.
Deffo would not take a chance on it anymore, or even back when it was first announced.
Not worth the risk me thinks.

i have to say it, its very true.
if you change the lanes, the cameras cannot detect your approximate speed.
as soon as i drive through the first one, i either change lane straight away, or wait til i can see the second one in the distance, then get in to a different lane.
Lee and i know someone who used to work for the speed camera enforcement agency, and this is a genuine flaw in the system.

I Work with people who do maintenance on these specs cameras and the new version of the camera can work out what lane you are in as the images are all digital covering all lanes, so the only way to get around this is have different size number plates as tthe automatic number plate recongnition will not work.

I must admit, I do the lane changing thing "just in case", but I also don't speed through em. I only do it to be on the safe side, just incase I lose track of speed, as sometimes you slow down and speed up depending on the traffic around you.....
Personally, I think the average speed camera's are the best way to stop motorists speeding as it DOES work - the vast majority will slow to the designate speed when entering the area covered by the camera's and stay at or under that limit untill out of it... Whereas gatso speed camera's, everony just slows to the limit for the camera, then nails it off afterwards

Get a bike and put your finger up or cover your eyes under the dark visor you are wearing!!!
None of them can zap you from the front!
Its especially brilliant coming out of London on a Friday afternoon (wet or not!!) when some idiot has hit some other idiot up the arse causing a 2 mile minger!
You can't average 50 miles an hour through a massive build up, but its fun trying!!

This was merely a software upgrade that was fixed nearly a year ago, at the time the statement was made it was factually correct, but not when the programme aired months later.
They are used more as a way of tracking "flagged" persons whereabouts/activities catching spedeers is a side issue so they don't get accused of infringing human rights laws about snooping on individuals.

Because SPECS will record different speeds for the same car traveling at the same speed in different lanes it is simply too inaccurate to be reliable.
Me, I watch my speed, AND change lanes.
No, it was nothing to do with software. The SPECS cameras have always been able to monitor all three lanes. The reason for the loophole was Home Office Approval, or rather lack of it. It's still unclear as to whether the loophole has been closed as the Home Office refuse to issue the data, even under the Freedom of Information act - I know, I've been asking for it! They claim that it could release "commercially sensitive data" - which is clearly bullshit for them not wanting it to be made public that the devices aren't 'that' accurate, and that due to the wild differences in speeds recorded across three lanes (the further away, the slower the recorded speed) that they probably don't have Home Office Approval for monitoring the same car over three lanes.

And I do the same
One thing to note, As you approach the camera's the do not necessarily work in sequence as you approach them 1, 2, 3, 4 etc, They could be the first, 2nd a dummy, 3rd, 4th, 5th a dummy,
So in that scenario you changing lane between 1 and 2 then back again for 3 has done nothing to help you 'get away with it',
Easiest solution is dont speed, not hard and stops you looking a twat when your trying to be a clever cunt

he loophole was closed ages ago, but i regulalrly see peole spanking it thorugh the roadworkds on the M1 and think "you twats" and carry on at or just below 50 mph
the other day i went up to junction 24 from junction 1 and the guy who overtook me at junction 3 was 5 cars ahead of me when i came off so he really made loads of time

I do the changing lanes thing but what I also try to do is when approaching the camera try and sit right up a juggernaughts arse to shield you from the camera (thats if there is one available!)

There seems to be a misconception that it's the cameras that do the grunt work - the cameras aren't intelligent in a SPECS system. They're basically digital video cameras, that are connected back to a computer that watches all the live feeds from the cameras. It's that computer that does the hard work of recognising the number plate (and notifying an operator if it can't read it), and calculating the number plate's average speed across the trap.
The system can follow you across as many lanes as there are cameras over the road, be that 1, 2, 4 or 8. It's simply that it's only approved for use for tracking 'a' car down one lane.
I also like watching the numpties in their M3s and such trying to disappear off into the distance because they're obviously better than the rest of us 'only doing 50', only to get held up again.
