im looking at getting a combi gas boiler to help reduce fuel bills, i have a detached 4 bed house
with 9 radiaters, i used to have a worcester at my last house think it was a 24i, ive been looking on ebay to buy iether a new one or a good second hand one then get a corgi gas fitter to put it in, b&q do one for 400 quid but ive been on a few forums and they say its absolute crap!! heatline i think it was ... what other makes or good

Valient 831 ecotec or a worcester bosch

I fit lots of Valients and have never had a problem with them............. VERY good flow rate

 

Worcester Bosch are good, had one at my old house.

 

worcester bosch 30cdi just cost me 1500 fitted mate - best make by far 90% efficiency

 

depends what you base a good combi on, hot water flow rate, price of the boiler, guarantee period, installation cost. Personally I don't think there is any good combi boilers. A system boiler and unvented cylinder is an awesome combination. Unless space is a contribution then only a combi will do. Vokira offer a 5yr guarentee but i do like Worcester Bosch boilers

Weve just had central heating fitted to a house were doing upand used a Gloworm Flexicom. They do a 24 and a 30. Its very good.Our house is 3 bedroom and we run 7 rads iof it and from turning it on it only takes 5 minits and the house is warm as toast. Its a condensing combi boiler

What size would you go for though? Guessing it depends on how many radiators and usage really but the numbers don't mean anything to me

We have 6x large (6ft) rads and 2x small (2ft) rads and the shower is electric. What flowrate and power would you advise? Would it actually make that much difference if we chose one that had a lower flow rate over a larger one?

 

The flow rate is dependant on the pressure of your incoming mains, no combi boiler will increase your mains water pressure, you could get away with a 25 kilowatt boiler, but if i was to price your job, i would recomend to you either a 28 or 32 kilowatage boiler.

Vaillant are the Rolls Royce of boilers., but consult a couple of plumbers as there is no point paying for an expensive badge if not needed, some may get better rates on one make than others
Who are valient? please tell me you are not a plumber or work in a plumbers merchants

i fitted a vaillant and its been great - 6 years trouble free running so far

 

I've had two quotes - 1 for fitting a Potterton ProMax with remote stat and the other for fitting a Vokera 29kw.

Anyone had experience of these?

i would recommend a worcester 30 si,10.8 ltrs of hot water per min,91% efficient,they come pre wired so you only need a plug,plumb center are doing a deal,boiler,flue and prog for less than £800 + vat,you will need a filling link also which is less than £10!any other boiler i have evr fitted(at customers request)and they have been trouble,steer clear of alpha,ferroli or keston.
