ive just bought a set of evo 8 callipers mate, front and rear.

i think the fronts are pretty much the same as the focus rs ones (and alfa gvt/fiat coupe turbo/406 coupe etc)

im hoping to use the focus rs disc on the front, and the std 2wd disc on the rear.

I'd try to go for a bigger rotor as the caliper would be mounted at a funny angle with the focus discs imo

I was going to go this route but as the caliper would look wrong i didnt bother

One of my brake conversions made it into classic ford mag on my mates capriwhich is a focus RS conversion which i designed for my cortina

Fudge thats going to be the max size disc really 325mm

do a search on here and u will see what i mean about the caliper position

Other options include 300x24mm st 170 focus discs and std 4 pot cos if a bracket can be made to suit (enough room)

Which you have prob thought about

Unless u have std front hub carriers and not cossie ones??

I use EBC and i've had no issues at all with them, they are made by EFi who supply OE to the Lorry industry...

A few years ago EBC got a bad rep due to there Biggest supplier selling cheap import discs from china as EBC but they where put out of business... I do wonder how many people who Slag off EBC have actually tried them recently? or (as I'd be more inclined to believe) Jump on the bandwaggon cuz they heard someone else say they are crap, so it has to be true?

DONT USE EBC's !!!!!!!!

Mate of mine had ebc ultimax and red stuff pads on his FRS and he felt his brakes were poor so he took them off to see why :

These had only done 8k used as his daily commute to work and back and they had warped, yet he doesnt even drive it fast.

Gotta say Andy thats shocked me... has he done anything about it? Took them back to the retailer and complained? I'm not suggesting the retailer is in anyway at fault but it would be interesting too get them sent back to EBC to find out what they say?

I run an ST170 set up on my focus, ok it's not quite FRS standards but I do tend to be quite hard on my brakes, i've managed to warp both a set of genuine and mintex discs, the mintex ones lasted less than a month, and so far the EBC Discs have stood up well to anything I can give them...

That said I use the turbo groove discs as the ultimax are intended more for the exec/show market that dont want rusty discs.

same with me. my ebc discs and red pads get abused daily to no ill effects and thats standard sized brakes in a car with double the power it was designed to run with. there can always be the odd bad apple in the barrel with anything i suppose.

Due to the strut cos u need the bit lump at the top for the shock

Thats the only reason i can think of i also have a spare 2wd hub which can be played with in the Garage/shed to save messing with the car

could make life a bit easier

One of the pad material totally fell apart from the backing plate and then caused the damage to the discs. The discs might have been ok if not used with ebc pads.

He sent those pictures to ebc and asked for a full refund but without purchasing another set of their brakes (he has bought AP's) and i think they argeed and refunded him. I guess they didnt want him making a fuss about poor quality brakes that could have caused an accident

I wouldnt use ebc brakes to stop my lawn mower let alone my car, i had 2 sets that became hardened on my RS Turbo years ago and both times it was because i was using ebc pads on ebc discs. I changed to mintex pads on ebc discs and the problem didnt reoccure on the 3rd set.
