Default Clutch problems....

Will the problems never end with the car .
Last couple of mornings, go to start the cossie and the first press of the clutch has been really stiff. 2nd press is ok. It only happens first thing in the morning.
Do the same yesterday morning, and same as usual, stiff. So push down with some large left leg muscles and "click click" then pedal drops to the floor with ease.
Now, there is no real resistance on the pedal,a toddler could push it down with his little finger and it sits where it should do, but i can engage all gears without using the pedal at all (its quite odd to select reverse, and be able to get out and see the reverse lights)
But obviously, i can't go anywhere
Its a 2wd if thats any use?
Any ideas guys?

Cheers.

Sounds like a dodgy clutch cable perhaps or release bearing?

Pull the pedal up (towards you) & see if anything happens ??

Ratchet is my first guess, pulling the pedal up does nothing

Someone mentioned to me about a collapsed clutch??
