Default My S2 engine bay resto..BIG UPDATE 25/02/2005

Well, it was nice, but not how like em...perfect. lol. I aint going bufty with the car, but i like a nice engine bay. The underside is staying waxoyled etc. Ill be doing a few other winter mods, but im starting with the engine bay.

Before

ill keep em coming, although progress will soon slow as i go away for a month soon

Respray the bay. Refresh the engine and paint that. Then rebuilt it all back to near standard, apart from maybe blue silicones, and the GRS etc that i have. Looking at your siggy, it will be more like yours as i also plan to smooth the bumpers

Sweet, exactly what I'm gonna be doing over the winter but I'm gonna have to do it in the car park and not in a nice warm garage

Ditch the ABS while you're there mate

NOOOOOOOOO, get black silicon hoses, that would go well with a nice fresh red engine bay imo

thanks for the comments guys! Ive worked every night and all weekend on it since last saturday when i dropped the engine out.

Wes im doing the opposite, painted the bay first, then im doing the engine and all the other bits while it hardens. Should be done around march i think with all the other stuff am gonna do.

Only bit of welding i had to do was right at the botom of the from panel where it meets the crosmember, both sides. Rest was solid!!!!

All work done by me

I used Autopaint rubberised brushable seam sealer tim! For the wing to slam panel you can buy it in a 'mastic style' cartridge for the mastic gun, but i used brushable again but masked up to get it straight...same job!

Basically its all in the prep really. Gunning the paint on is the easy bit. As long as its mixed ok and you have a half decent gun youll be ok. I used base coat laquer, and tack clothed between every coat of base before laquering as the garage is not totally dust free, i also dampened the floor. The pics DONT do it justice, you can do your hair in it
