they make very little out of the moaning domestic supplies it is business that provided them with the massive profits.
so stop being a domestic moaner
it's only 30 p a day increase
charge your time out per minute at your work pay and relate that to the time you spend every day walking round switching all the sockets off bet it's more than 30 pence worth

When you see that a company are moaning because their PROFIT is down to Ł166 million do you actualyl think we give a toss. Ł166 million profit is just that. Doesnt matter if its made up of Ł10 per customer or Ł100 per customer

Yeah ok, I'll shed a tear for them and while I'm doing that I'll try and switch to someone cheaper Theres no point paying more for something that you can get cheaper elsewhere or would you suggest I pay more to help them out

Sorry Tony, Ł166 mil is for the 1st half of the year. Yeah i feel so fucking sorry for them lol.

And if i made 1p out of every customer and it gave me a Ł100 million pound proft then yes i would be happy. Wouldnt you or is that not enough money for you

so the bigger the company the less they should make
I think you need to research into why the sudden price increase it is to do with the cost of gas from europe for the next 6 months if they do not pass on the increase they will be bankrupt

Tony,

i know exactly the reason why its going up. What im saying is that with making that much profit in 6 months be it pre tax profit what are they moaning about

Next you will be saying that the multiple billion pound profit BP made in the 1st half of this year is perfectly acceptable and we shouldnt maon about petrol prices lol

Tony, are you a shareholder by any chance

Anyway, back on topic has anyone locked into a decent deal with any of the suppliers?

+1.

you cant look at magnitudes, divide the tax by the turnover and then decide if the company is gettng too fat.

TBH I wouldnt bother moving, thats 2 of the big ones increased their prices, expect the remainder to follow shortly.

the problem with fuel is not that it is expensive now, but that it has been altogether too cheap for the last 80 or so years. people have become dependant on it at a fraction of its worth and thats coming back to bite now.

those of you who still want someone to blame can carry on blaming all the companies under the sun tho, lack of substance has never stopped a good rant on PF

it is difficult to now get a capped deal, but last week would have been easy. they talked about it on radio2 last friday with moneysaving expert.com who said it would be a good idea to do it immediately, and he was right

I did a capped deal last month there were enough warnings on tv and advice over the last 6 months, those that are trying to do it today should have been a bit brighter.
I am so relieved i am 30 pence a day better off I was having trouble sleeping with the worry

It must be nice for you Tony not having to worry about the miniscule dent it will make in your fortune but it does effect most people! I have a fish and chip shop business and my energy bills are huge!! 6 months ago I was paying Ł150 a month for electric in my shop and now i'm paying Ł270!!

My parents are both pensioners and my mam works for me just so they can afford to buy their shopping every week and with this new increase on gas etc they are saying that come winter time they'll have to sit in the sitting room wrapped up in quilts!!!

Tell me thats not wrong!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

FOOKIN COUNTRY IS GOING TO IMPLODE SOON

you can get your own back on them as follows:

your quarterly bill date range will stradle the date that they apply the unit rate increase. they dont read your meter on the midnight of the change date so they dont actually know how many units you used before the price increase, and how many you used after (at the higher unit rate) within that quarterly charging period.

they are very cagey about explaining how they decide how many units should be charged at the lower rate and how many at the higher rate within the period concerned. having talked to two levels of customer support at scottish power (who have not as yet announced a rise), they will not explain how they work this out but simply said it was by a computer program that considered previous usage!

after pestering the customer services supervisor she conceded that in the absence of an actual reading taken at the date point of the rate increase, evidence provided by the consumer would probably have more weight than thier computer program.

clearly if you had 'been away on holiday' for the part of the quarterly charging period when the rate was higher, you would be in a good position to dispuite thier charges and they would not be able to argue it really.

calculate your bill and if you know what your usuage has been in the quarter concerned.

record your actual meter readings the day before they announce a price increase. when they send you the bill for the quater which covers the price increase date

i have just started working for scottish power doing the direct sales. the amount of people that i have come across not wanting to cap their prices are unbeleivable.they moan on one hand about the prices rising but are happy to sit back and not take the chance of a fixed price when it is on offer.
many have said they wont change supplier until they see what happens , errr i thought it has been well documented that prices would go UP not Down.
ps if you live in ayrshire, I can sign you up for the fixed price 2009
