my brother has just bought some 18s for his st170, fitted them today and the scrub like fuck!
They are 18s, 7.5j and have 225 40 tires fitted. They are offset et42.

The wheels were fitted to a focus rs, and i have seen standard rs wheels on a st170, so surprised these ones catch.

Would changing the tires to 215 35s sort it, or are they always gonna scrub?

 

The rolling radius has increased as stock they come on 215/40/17's from memory.

 

yup thats right steve, but dunno if 35s will make enough diff, hope so, he travelled a fair way to get the wheels, and they look really good on the car!

 

What's on the FRS?

 

the tyres n at the min are 34mm larger than standard, 215/30's are only 4mm bigger, so i would imagine you should get away with it

 

thought st170's came with 45 profile tyres?

 

they might be 45s as standard actually. so anymore suggestions on how to solve the scrubbing?

 

i have a set of virtually new 215/35/18 tyres if your interested and it sorts your problem.

Can bring them to ford fair too.
