i am thinking of doing this to my escort but would just like to know,
is there anything to watch out for
what will brake when taking off
any parts/clips that can be brought new or cant
i a thinking of doing it in sections so the car never gets fully stripped as i am that bad the car will sit as a shell for years.
any help much appriechated on this and help on parts that i know i have missed.
thanks darren

Are you doing total restoration? Under, over, inside, enginebay and the lot? If so, a week or so before you start on removing the propshaft, rearaxle, gearbox etc under the car. Take some good rust solvent and spray all the bolts that you are removing. Do this several times before dismantling and you have a much bigger chance of getting all the bolts of without anything braking. And you are guarantied to brake some of the clips on your sideskirts. But you might save them all if you are very, very careful. But they are still possible to get from Ford, but expensive. 4£ each in Norway. And there are 8 or 9 on each side. Cant think of anything more at the moment.

i have just but a new clutch in so most of them parts have been remove, plus last year the engine was done so other than the rear beam the rest has been out.
just to say when my car goes back on the road it will be 2wd but i shall be keeping and cleaning up all the 4wd parts as well.

front a/r/bar mounting bolts can snap off as well as the rear beam mounting plate ones, so go careful with those, also the sideskirt clips as mentioned will most likely snap as they go brittle with age and you cant get one type now

the under body fuel lines are pretty hard to get hold of, mine were corroded to hell and i had to wait a couple of months for them, that was around 3 yrs ago as well, pretty much everything else is still sourceable either new or s/hand
