i heard that a rs500 thermostat will make a series 2 cool better? mine has pace front mounted cooler and on the run it is fine but, going around town it gets very hot even with the 2 fans on

 

None of the thermostats will make it cooler better, just lower the temp that the fan starts running.
It could just be that your thermostat is old and needs replacing with a new unit that opens at the correct temp.

I think (not 100% which model, think it's just any Cosworth item) these open at 82 degrees, but any Cos buff should know the answer for you.

 

Toyota MR2 thermostat was the easiest and cheapest to find for me, it's 82C and fits straigth in.

 

It wont even fit mate. Let alone cool the engine.


The Thermostat has no bearing on fan operation pal, your thinking of the fan switch.

Although the info is the same: it won't give better cooling, just allow cooling at an earlier point.
