Default Got A Trojan, need help

My Norton came up with an alert requiring a manual fix, I followed the guide and it does absolutely fuck all.

How do I get shot of the fuckin thing?

Web pages still load up ok but trying to watch youtube etc is annoying as it keeps stopping every few seconds then starting again when usualy its fine.

Anyone help???

Got SpyBot, ran a scan in safe mode and found and removed 8 trojans

The past few weeks I been getting this on start up too

RunDLL
Error loading C:\Users\BigErn\AppData\Local\Temp\byXNeBrO.dll
The Specific module could not be found.

Whats it mean? How can I get rid of that?

Firefox has started crashing all the time too and I have to use IE.

I HATE COMPUTERS

sounds like its so full of shit that trying to patch it up will be fighting a losing battle.

imho, back up your data, then reinstall

then after that, stop using dodgy websites and/or programs

don't reinstall yet. Try a system restore first. if your using XP, find it in start, programs, accessories, system tools.

Piss easy to do, follow the on screen instructions. Back a week or two should do it

how far did you resotre it to? A trojan can be nestled in the system for a while before it rears its ugly head.

I personally think norton is rubbish. I use avast anti virus. Download it for free and it does automatic free updates from here : http://www.avast.com/eng/download-avast-home.html

hmm. well the only thing i can suggest is try that avast. And make sure it runs the boot time scan on first restart.

Failing that, then it could well be a reinstall!

System restore is not responding so I cant do that either.

Norton ocassionally prompted me to do backups, of what I dont know, but I found a disc with "full backup" done on 6/4/08. How do I make it work?????

Not too clued up on vista so i dont really know mate.

Do you have any important documents on the computer? Make sure you have a hard copy of these saved first.

A backup disc will only restore lost files though, it will not remove viruses.

As i said, my best advice i can give you is try that avast program and make sure you do the boot time scan.

can you right click it and disable it? If it were mine i'd uninstall it and get rid of it, i think norton is rubbish.

Although they should both work together ok.

google norton removal tool, and you will need that to remove norton properly, then install avast and do a full scan.
Norton isnt worth the box it comes in!

Ran the avast boot up scan and found another infected file and another trojan, got rid of them but still get the RunDLL message.

Things are still not working as quick as they were ie youtube and the like.

Instead of constantly asking for ideas, get someone who knows PC's and who you trust, install Logmein Free, get them to connect and fix it for you. Saves a shitload of time.

PM if you want more info.
