Default Catch Tank??

Folks, probably a silly question so go easy on me.. lol, just wondering how often they fill, reason i'm asking this, Jim had his hidden behind the arch in the passenger side so it means getting the wheel off, the inner arch cover and then fiddling between the tight gap to empty the bloody thing..

Now the car has done 57k miles, Max only did 500 miles in the car, i've done about 300 or so since and i emptied it before Max bought it, so near on a thousand miles since being epmtied, will it have filled??

As said, dumb question i know but i'd hate to piss about getting inner arch trim off to find it's only quarter full..

Think it needs repositioning tbh..........

How long is a piece of string?

All depends on how much it breathes, whether it only breathes under heavy use etc...

Sadly as I guess you know, it's time to go take a look!

Si,

Yes mate i know about the breathing, but i just thought as it doesn't get tracked etc, yes i hammer it when it;s out that's what it's for, maybe just cus it's only covered 800 miles or so it'd be ok..

I'll go and have a look and get it emptied..and then get it relocated..

i would check it every 500-600 miles just to keep a eye on the level(not to empty!)then once it is full and ready to empty make a note of how many miles it has been, empty it then recheck at roughly the same mileage

indeed - can imagine it's a ball ache!

You may well find it's empty then, my old Cossie was bad only during track use. Hard road use never really saw much in the tank.

Still, needs to be relocated, so may as well just do it!

Have fun

what a crap place to mount a catch tank. relocate and add a oil return so you dont have to empty it ever again

by breather returns back into the sump. catching the oil and draining it is an inconvenience

It's only catching oil vapours and condensation out of the system though...so there's no oil to drain back as such.

I agree it's position isn't ideal, but it's tidy and saves cluttering the bay up.
