Hey everyone,

Im looking to buy a mk5 escort xr3i but it has rust around the sills and fuel filler cap , how easy are these to weld or replace and where can i get new panels from!? (particularly the rear panel in which the filler cap sits)

Any help or advice much appriciated.

sills very easy, 1/4 panel around the filler neck well personally i'd try and get a full 1/4 panel as from experience i've repaired these before, cutting out the rot making a new panel, butt welding it back in. it was wax oiled and it started rusting again 18 month later around the new panel i welded in. petrol and the steel that these cars are made from don't agree with each other
