Default So how much does an engine like Porkies cost?? Price now added!!!

I have had quite a few folks asking, so I'm going to work it out based on a customer supplying a suitable std base engine with crank on std/std sizes.

As Lee's engine is on solid lifters, swedish plenum, big port head, GT30, ex wastegate, long studs, Siemens injectors etc I'm going to include all that... Let's see what it adds up to..

Might be worth also listing without solid lifters (I realise this will effect cam choice) as a "road package" of similar but not identical spec.

Personally I like solids even in a road car, but unless holding at high rpm I view them as a "nice to have" rather than an essential, and im sure others will feel the same.
Mind you, if you dont feel the same, then tell me to get fucked and that you will only do an engine of that spec on solids, lol

ah well as people are guessing

Head including cams, lifters, and portwork : 2000 exchange
Block preperation and machning including studs: 1000
Crank polish : 30
Pistons : 500
Bearings, seals, gaskets : 500
Swedish inlet : 300
GT30 + gate + manifold mods = 1400
Mapping of L8 : 400
Loom + injectors : 600

Thats only the main components though not all of it as couldnt be arsed to really sit down and think it all through, so I reckon 10K ish all in, possibly a little more if its going to include air injectors etc as well

Probably more though as Ive spent far more than that on my nova engien and thats with NO labour charges.

Actually im going to guess at 12K + fitting

Reason being when me and steve were asking Lee what he would get for the car if he broke it instead of selling it, he mentioned the engien as 6K, and I dont think he knows much about prices so probably just halved what it cost him cause its now secondhand.

I know it's an Engine cost we,re talking here folks, but don't forget, with Lees power you'll need stoppers, diff, gearbox etc too..

I'd say 10k plus with labour in that price..

This is based on the customer fitting his own engine and supplying his L8 ECU, Coil pack, Clutch, Water pump, 2wd ex manifold & a few other bits and bobs. The price does include Verniers, 5 bar map sensor, wastegate, wastegate conversion to customers 2wd manifold, Turbo GT30 (or GT35), Gen Swedish plenum, big wing sump, loom, oil feed and turbo drain & all mapped.

On solid lifters Ł8439 + vat (Ł9915)
On Hyd lifters Ł8049 + vat (Ł9457)
On Pectel T2 rather than L8 Ł600 + vat (Ł705)
Rather Have a 2.2 than a 2.0? then add Ł2350+ vat to the above.

who cares.

the answer is obviously A LOT.

if u have to ask the price u shouldnt spend it or more than likley dont have it to spend.

sorry but ive gone all negative on spending money on cars latley, thanks to gordans "great" britian taxation on everything.

oh yeh martin why not give a cash price and a normal price with vat inc

Thats a very reasonable price!

What power/torque figures would that engine obtain? What does it rev to?

How about a price for a drive in, drive out conversion from say a stage 3 or a T34 engine'd car? So including fitting etc.

Simply for retards like me that don't know one end of a spanner from the other and certainly wouldn't try removing and refitting an engine!!

That's a difficult one because some folk have a car that needs more than others..
