Default gearbox info

i have a wierd vibration that goes through the tunnel at 70-90.thought it was the rear prop as that had play in the mount and it rattled like a goodun.so replaced it.still there!the front prop has no play in where the joints are so dont think its that but it does feel like there is play inside the transfer box
driving the car home yesterday on the m25 i noticed that that if im sat at 70-80-90 in 4th gear it deosnt do it but the minute i put it in 5th it starts to vibrate.

any ideas poeple?

Sounds like it is in the box. I have heard of this before. With 4th being a direct gear it does not do it but in 5th it does. Sound like the bearing at 5th gear end.

yes 4th gear is direct on to the mainshaft so sounds like a gear/bearing issue

Have just changed my very stretched stepper chain & stopped all the nonsense in 1st, 2nd & 3rd.

Not noticed anything on 4th or 5th so perhaps I caught it in time.
