thinking of getting one, just as a bit of a toy to run around in as they take up fuck all space and use fuck all juice
pros and cons?
other than the "if you have a crash you die" types please
it's no motorway mile muncher, just a city car, bit of shopping, that sort of thing
other than it's more expensive than a bus pass i can't think of things that aren't good about it

I could never have one because I would be tempted to do this to it

Well sell a load through the auction where i work (Daimler Chrysler fleet management) and they seem ok, most of the niggly problems are electrical ones with the gearbox, (especially if some fuckwit connects the battery booster pack the wrong way - it spikes the gearbox ecu and they wont run or even start after that...), gearlever position sensors are prone for failing, other than that they seem ok.
Mind you, if you crash you die...

so how much should i be looking at spending on a decent one with decent spec?
assuming you do get decent spec on them other than air con and electric windows?

i had one for about 2 months.... fun but very tiring to drive.... t much effort and if you live in a road with speed bumps you've had it! good if you have other cars to use on long journeys.... and as mentioned about get the passion with the air con...
plus i had 17" wheels on mine, made it look so cool!!!

not to bothered about how old it is or how new it is as i'm not really into the keeping p with the jones' types, and the mrs is going to need to drive it so being bent out of shape a little won't mind either

some guy just a few doors away has one in black with tints and a dump valve on it (because its got a teeny weeny turbocharger on it)

Sounds quite funny actually. It's not the usual dump valve hiss, this one sounds more like a little puff

i think there quite expensive to service, have to drop the engine out for pretty much everything, not to mention parts being quite expensive with it being merc, although they've been sold to another company so that may change.
you may be better off getting a lupo or something.

Immobilisers sometimes play up. the batteries go flat in the remote and stops the car from starting!!
Been out to a few with that problem!!
Worth keeping some spare batteries in the car just in case but just changing the batteries alone sometimes isnt enough and the key/s have to be recoded by a smart dealer!
