Default galaxy wipers

i've got a problem with the wipers on my 2002 galaxy that i hope sombody can help me with please sorry to post in here, but there is no galaxy specific forum

luckily i have discovered it today when i went to wash/wipe, and not later on when it is raining and i'm on the motorway or something

when you switch the wipers on, they kind of 'twitch' but do not sweep across. i am presuming that as they twitch they must have power and must be getting a CAN message, so what can it be? i have lifted them off the screen and they are not stuck or anything. any known faults?

the wiper linkage will be siezed. its quite common with galaxys.
you can strip it down and free it off then grease it all.

hope this helps.

that sounds likely scott, as it wants to start but then probably stops before it draws too much current. they worked a couple of weeks before that though, not like it's been sat for months

Checked the fuses and the likes?

Fuse 4 20amp is the supply for the rear wiper relay and rear motor.
Fuse 5 10amp is for the wash wipe stalk and supply to intermittent relay.
Fuse 24 is for front wiper relay and supplies wiper motor, it is immediately to the right of K175 on the bottom of the vertical row of four fuses.

K11 intermittent wiper relay, bottom row 2nd from left.
K64 rear wiper relay, above K11.
K175 is the front wiper relay, top row 3rd from left.

Bad contacts on the wiper stalk?

Seized wiper linkage is commone in deed.

I let someone else operate the switch while I tried to help the motor moving the wipers with my hands and spraying WD40 on the joints. Don't know if that's a good idea or if it can actually damage the motor but it worked fine for me twice. Quick 'n dirty as always... :P

I would say seized linkage too. Changed loads of them.

it was a seized linkage, where the shafts that the wiper arms bolt to go through those 'posts'. freed them up with a bit of wibbly dibbly

thanks for the advice everyone
