Embarked on an experiment over the last 10 days mainly due to fuel prices and decided to drive my ST170 conservatively. I usually get about 280 miles to a full tank which works out about 27 to the gallon. For the last 10 days I have not revved her above 3000 rpm yes I know its boring but I have managed to get 370 miles to a full tank. That’s a massive 35 miles to the gallon.

Anybody else fancy trying it and post up you results

just started the experiment on my st170 now mate! Filled her up yesterday, doing a long run oop north at the weekend, so will see how i get on

a bit heavy footed this week........... only got 356 to a full tank

 

is that from as soon as the fuel light comes on? Cos i have done about 50 miles with the light on before

 

Yes Rich as soon as the light comes on, I think i did 4 miles to the petol station when the light came on

yes mate! Sorry i don't do many miles so it took a while! I did 322 miles, and the fuel light hadn't come on. I had to fill up as I needed to do a motorway trip. It took 49 litres to fill, so that works out at 29.9mpg. Thats with giving it quite a lot of welmet too, so not bad i guess. I've just about emptied the tank again (in 2 days I should add ), so will let you know how this goes
