Default any heating experts about

hello and thanks for any help in advance what could this be every now and again the combi boiler fires up for 10 to 20 seconds then turns off again is this any thing to be worried about.

no none at all no hot taps on nothing on and it some times randomly comes on for a few seconds

what boiler is it? does it have a domestic hot water preheat function thats turned on?

Thats what it sounds like to me, its just keeping the temp of the domestic hot water pre-heat up. So I would say nothing to worry about.

yeah thats what I was thinking or some newer boilers will run the pump now and again to prevent seizures and this could be waht your hearing.


what kind of boiler is it?

hello its a valliant i don't no model as its quite old now when you turn the hot water tap on the boiler fires up if that's what you mean and if so is that normal it might of always done it but I've only just noticed it.

yeah most newer vallaint have a preheat but you should be able to dissable it if you wish.

if there is nothing wrong with it doing it then it doesn't bother me its just i have only recently noticed it and thought something was wrong thanks a lot for putting my mind at rest.

Nothing wrong but will use a wee bit more gas than the normal mode.
good thing is that you should have hot water from "almost" the second you run the tap.
