Are you crazy? (I know you are ) I simply can't cope with Cossie related parts sales/jobs in the workshop, I did think a couple of years ago that we might need to diversify but Cosworth Ford stuff is relentless everyday

I have noticed a massive down turn in the trade .

I think Martin is doing well as his customers will mostly be the men with serious money , not like 70% of my customers who are running a cossie on a shoe string .

I will be lucky if i can be arsed to see the year out before i ditch the old fords and do somthing new .

Im lucky as im not daft enough to think that life revolves aroung cossies and i am sure there are plenty of other things i can do to earn a few quid

I reckon that's bollocks.. I rub shoulders with two other major players in the same field (Cosworth YB) and both are as busy as I am. Maybe being a penis on the net doesn't help sales?

Totally wrong!! I do deal with guys with huge budgets (but they all want value for money ) but my main business is from people like you and me, people who work hard for their money.

I would think any type of performance car related business will feel a downturn due to the state of our economy and the credit crunch. I know i'm feeling it in my shop!

That is not the case, I'm hearing credit crunch on the news but not seeing it in reality. I think there is a sizable amount of guys (and girls) with expendable cash that will always want to spend it on their cars no matter what. I know this because I'm one of them

Exactly that... But I sooo hope we are right because the 60k rolling road that I have invested in might have been a big mistake Having said that I did buy it as a toy so maybe it's going to be ok ...

Phil let's know who the 'once major' tuner is that owes you money, I hate wankers that wont pay their way Yes I have bought Bosch stuff from you on loads of occasions (and would still do so ) but it doesn't mean that I agree with the way you advertise yourself on the net! Less is more!! How many times have you seen me mention my 200mph run since it was done? Never!! People don't want to know so why force feed them?

You wouldn't need to mention it Martin, it's in the top corner of all your posts.

Serious answer is No

And I agree with the above, the media may think there is a credit crunch going on but I have not seen or felt it one bit.

Thanks Tim but i dont think i could ever work for anyone else again , once you have been your own boss there is no going back

As for the car business

There are many reasons why i maybee feeling a down turn

1, If im honest im not as " lets go get it " as i once was
2, Ebay has opened the world up to self sales etc
3, websites like this doing the same ( giving everyone a shop window )
4, The lack of people wanting to run a shitbox old ford , lol
5, Cost of fuel putting people of running there cars

There are more but i could be hear all day

top and bottom line is there are far to many people doing what i do on the side who need a lot less proffit than i do and there is nothing i can do about it .
I have seen many " RS breakers " come and go since i have been doing it and im sure there will be more as there just isnt the money in it now hence my plans to do somthing a mile away from the motor trade .
My sister has a furniture shop selling high quality stuff and she is booming and is realy wanting to expand big time so may just do somthing with her

I don't know about credit crunch as can't get credit!!
I do know idiots that are spending 60% of thier weekly wage just on car repayments so they can have a new car every year though, keep up with the jones's sort of thing, then they never go out anymore as they don't have the money!!
