Brass (I think) reinforcing rings inserted in a cutout around each cylinder, on the face of the block. Essentially it's an early method of improving cylinder head gasket resilience.

Walk away, you will have to have these machined off, which will affect the deck height - find another.

I personally wouldn't want to do this on a high power engine, but yes, you can do anything you like .

However, at this stage he is in a position to chose the best way and not compromise, so I would always recommend the best course of action for the long term.

No, it's a 205 block that I built up to look like a brand new 200 block with tin foil and paint .

The whole shooting match as you would buy from Cosworth - funny that considering where it came from .

Fitting kit = baffle plate, ball bearing for the oil gallery behind the flywheel and three core plugs.
