Default Any Peugeot experts? (206cc)

My mum has a 206cc which is showing the temp gauge really high, even when the engine and ignition is off, the guage is reading half way up
I have just put a new coolant temp sensor on and its not made any difference.
The engine is definitly not overheating as the gauge goes straight up just below the red as soon as its started from cold!

Anyone got any ideas?

sounds like a dash fault, can be repaired buy getting someone to read the dump from the eeprom and correct, or just get a dump from net for one and write it.

have a chat with some mileage correction ppl they will be able to do it for you

what if you remove the connection from the temp sender then try it? should read nothing at all then, and will eliminate any fault the engine side....

I thought that too, with the CTS unplugged its exactly the same.
Which makes me wonder if Peugeot gave me that or something else?!

I don't wish to insult your intelligence - did you change the right one? Some cars have two, one which gives a reading to the ECU, and the other one that gives the reading to the dash. Just a thought!

To be honest, I know nothing of Pug engines of any description!
I went to the dealers and asked for a CTS for the car, then got home and changed the one that matched it
It was the one I had thought would be it in the first place, and confirmed by the part numbers matching
