Default cosworth/car prices in 1993/4

When I bought my first saff the owner had the page from the Autotrader from when he was looking for 1 and you can see the prices bear in mind the cossies must have been 3ish years old and there is a G reg escort cab up for £5200

and see the RS2000 signal yellow £1175ono

gonna upload the other side of the page shortly.

I'd have all of them and the MK1's and 2's might have been better than property

I remember back in the day when it was a big event to see a Sapphire Cos on the road or parked-up, as an Escort owner I was in total awe of them.

They have aged well and IMO are now an icon of the 90's.

Without a doubt an icon

I find it funny that 3 years old they are the cheaper than they are now and then the mk2 rs2000 price cheaper than a mk1 XR2 and a nova SR

and all the Reno 5 prices

insurance was a big reason for the price, in my saff history from '93 there a renewal quote for £9250 with a £5000 excess for a middle aged fella

i know a local main dealer who sold a good low miles RS500 in the early 90's for just under £3000 no one could insure it, even a lot of trader policys stated 'no cosworths'

I know it was the insurance killer my older brothers used to drive around in Hilman Imps and 1300e's when these were about

fuel prices will do the same this time

I know at the time you could just about give cossies away because of the insurance, the fact they were all used in ram raids and the recession!

Must have been 93/94 not 91 as per topic title? [There's a 1993 Primera on the second page]

I was gonna say, whats the chances of that RS2000 still being for sale, surely he'd be taking offers on it by now

Very interesting to see, I remember when I was younger 2door mk1 escorts selling in the local paper for £350 etc... Couldnt get rid of them back then! If only Id known

Might buy myself a tidy mk6 escort gti or something, who knows, could be worth something in 20 years time!

Either that or it'll have turned into a pile of brown dust

Although we laugh about it now, what if.....
