Anyone got a KIA Sportage or Sorento???Any good?
As title. Im still on the never ending hunt for a family car and its led me through all types of cars. I'd settled on a mondy st but she still wants a jeep! She mentioned a sorento yesterday and i'd never heard of it just the sportage.
Anways today i had a look round sportage owned by a guy at work. 06 reg 2.0 TD 138bhp. Its actually not a bad looking car thats ok inside
Full black leather, rear privacy glass, manual. Theres loads of room in the boot and the rear seats tilt and fold flat. Lots of nice touches.
Now apparently the sorento has 7 seats which is v handy considering we have 3 boys already!
Anyone got or had either car? Or any comments on kia in general. Im not expecting a glowing review of the brand name but im actually very impressed!
Oh i drove the car too and it was very reasonable!
It returns about 32-35 mpg and is 6 speed.
Anything better out there for £12-15k??

My last girlfriends mum had a Kia Rio and I didn't feel safe in it. The suspension used to max out over speed bumps, or so it felt. I've seen better quality plastics on a childs toy and the seats where stupidly uncomfortable. The brakes where poor, or shall I say dangerous and I wouldn't feel safe with my kids walking past it let alone in it.
However, the new Kia Ceed does look half decent, I've not been in one but from what I've seen, Kia are getting better.

agreed that looks well.
however she wont drive a people carrier as it'll "make her look old".
Come on love you're married with 3 kids ffs!
Whats so bad with the kias? seem reasonably priced and ok spec?
Depriciation is bad on them, the way fuel and tax is at the moment you could prob pick one up cheap, if you dont plan to have anymore kids, you'll be fine with a mondeo st,, even a focus st as there quite big inside
depreciation was a thought. buying a 2yr old sportage for £12k say?! just keep the fucker till death?
theres loads of room inside! can even use it like a van the way the seats fold. tbh im quite impressed!
i cant see whay the one im talking about isnt comfortable! nice leather, loads of leg room front and back. The rear seats even tilt!!
Kuga only available new and too expensive. If they were a yr old i'd stretch the budget as they look fucking smart.

Just look at the difference in quality, just from a picture. Lots more compartments for storing things, much nice feel and I guarantee you the Ford, Vauxhall whatever you choose will drive so much nice.

My mate works for the local Kia dealer and says they're actually not too bad. Its never gonna have the off roading ability of some others, and I'm pretty sure you're not under the illusion that its a Range Rover at quarter the price. I dont think you can go far wrong. The only real problem with them is reselling them. If you buy a year old one now and try to sell it in three years, it'll be worth absolutely nothing. If you dont mind hanging onto it, til it dies, you'll be right enough.
My grandad's got a 55 plate Kia Sorento which I begged him not to buy but to be honest seems a very good car IMO. It's the top of the range 2.5 CRD turbo diesel auto with most options. Leather, 18's, sat nav etc but doesn't have 7 seats so it must be an option. Now i've driven A LOT of cars as I buy and sell ex fleet ones and it drives very very well! So it isn't the best looking car or built as well as a german car but you will certainly be suprised for the money! It drives better than any Zafira I've ever driven too!
They're not bad cars although the build quality isn't as good as European/Japanese cars but you'll have the benefit of the long warranty. The interiors are less durable than most for use as a family car, but better than the old galaxies
.
I've heard a few horror stories about them from our local new Kia dealer [Dovers in Ash, Hampshire] about engines and gearboxes giving up on the diesels within 10k miles, but a warranty is a warranty and it's keeping their workshop busy.
The Hyundai is a similar vehicle as an alternative.
They're South Korean.
North Korea only make bicycles and nuclear warheads.

I have a 2000 Kia Mentor. You've met me, not the smallest of people and I am very comfortable in it.
Done long and short distance in it, fair enough not the quickest of cars but does what I want it to do with no effort at all.
1.5 Mazda petrol engine I have been told and returns 40+mpg at constant speed and 35 round town.
Got mine due to unfortunate circumstances (was dad's before he passed away) and in the 3 years I have had it its cost me a battery and £200 on last MOT.
When it gives up the ghost I wouldnt hesitate in buying another.
Been and had a look at Sportages and I couldnt fault the one I test drove.

try and persuade her round to a c-max
a work colleague, jjust bought a 54 plate c-max tdci, does almost 60mpg and is a great family car
only 17k on the clock and he picked it up for 6.5k

i think you probably meant 'compass' - why don't you use the internet for something constructive and get yourself an education? or maybe when you spend all that time on the bog shoving things up your rectum, take a dictionary and a thesaurus in there with you and learn something of your native language so that you can write to a standard that most european school children are more capable of
hope that helps
lambchop - kia are improving, but the quality is not as good as a european car, and nowhere near a jap car yet. but you probably can't go far wrong for the money secondhand if you do not have very high standards and are not a badge snob. take advice from the man Paddy, he knows his secondhand onions
