Big difference in camber on the front of my 4x4 Sapphire Cossie. Been thinking it looked out for a while, got it measured and big difference! 3 degrees front offside, 0.5 degrees front nearside.

How do I adjust the camber and what figure is correct???

 

u cant unless you have fitted adjustable track control arms.
check that the hub carrier is not bent or if someone has fitted 1 from an xr4x4 as that would cause the excess camber

 

make a slotted hole in the engine crossmember, put big washers on, set the geometry correct and then spot weld the washers in place

 

the crossmember is alloy....

just get some adjustable tcas from compbrake, aka nutsrus on here

 

Just get the correct arms, or fix the bit that is bent.

Now, what's a hub carrier? And when you say "fitted 1 from an xr4x4" do you mean a track control arm from a xr4x4? Can I just measure these, compare the good side with the bad?

 

i'd say that 1 of your ball-joints is fuked or you got a incorrect pair of TCA fitted

my advice would be buy replacement bottom arms and new poly bushes get theses fitted and check your camber again, no need to go to the expense of adjustable TCA unless you intent to track the car is it stupidly low, and i which case it'll eat driveshafts and ball-joints

 

hub carrier is the bit that carriers the wheel bearings & what the calipers, tca & shock absorber fit to. xr4x4 ones look similar but the strut mounting is at a different angle which would affect the camber

 

Right, got dirty today. Jacked up the front put it on stands (some new bumps in the footwells too no doubt).

I wanted to fit long wheel studs anyway, which I did. So both TCAs look okay, they're cast iron from the look of it? They are both poly bushed already, poly bushes look fine, poly bushes to roll bar too all look fine. The ball joint on the side with the bad camber had a damaged rubber "gaiter" but it all looked fine, comparing both sides nothing out of position.

I now understand what a hub carrier is of course, but is there any easy way to tell if it's the XR4x4 one??

The car is currently -25mm only, has been lower in the past but not mega low.
