Default Challenging a PCN?

Hey everyone,

Im wondering if i could pick your brains quickly. Ive just come back from the gym and have been issued with a parking ticket. Ok i was parked on double yellows outside the lesuire centre in dunstable but have been doing this for the past 12 months. The sign that is on site from VINCI says controlled parking from 8am-6pm monday to friday. There is no sign saying no parking 24hrs etc etc.

As there was no sign up and or warning from traffic wardens where do i stand?, they got me and about 11 other people tonight so im not the only one

Any advice would be greatly apreciated, even if it is to bend over and take it like a man lol

Regards

Matt

where on the sign does it state prking signs are only valid betwen them times? it don't it just says controlled parking between those times. Don't mean they will not give you a ticket out of those hours does it. you have had your moneys worth over the last year.

complain about it
if it's been issued outside of hours then they haven't really got a leg to stand on

alternativly, pay it and be a few quid worse off and deprive yourself of a parking space that you may otherwise be entitled to use for free

Matt P, are you not confusing the sign for a single yellow near buy? As normally a single yellow will follow on from a double area.

I always thought double yellows are a 24hr no go area

where as the single yellow you are not allowed to park on between 8am and 6pm, as the sign states.

think you are in the wrong unfortiantly. there must be a web sight to find the exact rules, i suppose all you could do is challenge the ticket with reason that the sign is misrepresentive and sighted in the wrong place?

though their arguenemt could be if you dont know the rules of the road you shouldnt be driving!

taken from the highway code site.

Double yellow lines mean no waiting at any time, unless there are signs that specifically indicate seasonal restrictions. The times at which the restrictions apply for other road markings are shown on nearby plates or on entry signs to controlled parking zones. If no days are shown on the signs, the restrictions are in force every day including Sundays and Bank Holidays.

pay the fine you have had free parking for 12 months unless you are admitting that you would like to pay 12 months worth of fines lol

www.appealnow.com

My dad knows the guy personally and has managed to escape a fair few parking tickets and illegal turns for a few drinks here and there. this guy is ace. for example, a parking warden issued a ticket for time XX:XX and y seconds. The camera footage recorded the incident at XX:XX and z seconds. There is some technicality that means this ticket is invalid as the times do not match (albeit seconds out) and so the ticket was scrapped. Just an example of what this guy can do.
