"i'm doing this until i can afford some coilovers"

so lets get this straight, he seriously expects us (and himself) to beleive that he is gonna spend £300-400 on a very sporty suspension setup, on a car worth £50 with a 20bhp 1 litre engine and pram wheels?

Err, whats the big deal?

Using cable ties to stop them falling out the cup when jacked up is common an normal?

Cut springs arent dangerous really IF they are cut so they still sit flat, tho he has gone too far by looks of it and not done them so they are flat, so thats a bit gay and daft.

But people giving it loads about using cable ties is a bit retarded...

putting the cable ties in to stop the spring from fallig out is ok

but what you may have failed to realise is that the spring itself is now the length of the compressed strut, so when the strut is put back onto the car, the weight of the wheel and hub assemblies may cause the cable ties to come undo, leaving him with a trip to his local maplins to go and srouce some mroe to tie round

grade a potential moron he may be, but he's trying his hardest to get onto the short bus

zip-ties aside, my mate had cut springs on a mk1 fiesta and lost it in the wet on a roundabout, rolled it, could have easily killed/mamed himself and the passenger. who knows if the cut springs caused it but its always had us thinking they probably did...

The that one of the raised welded strut top reminded of a old 2.0 ghia capri my mate had.

Its was a total rust bucket (a friday afternoon job) we had just chucked other engine in from the scrapers and was giving it some shit and hit a bump in the road thought fook all of it. Parked it up and it looked low at the front. opened the bonnet and the fooking bonnet was holding the strut down. The inner wing was so rusty the fooking thing came though

You really need to go study suspension then perhaps when you are better informed you can make a proper comment.

it's an MOT failure so not 'safe enough' to be on the road.

makes me wish we could stop customers from removing thier car from the premisis for thier own safety
