Default ST170 or ST TDCI

Looking to get a new motor but not sure what to get. I need a five door as I have a kid so this narrowed it down to either a focus ST170 in imperial blue or a mondeo ST TDCI in the same colour. With the price of petrol going up and up it makes me think I should get the oil burner. Does any body know which tax bracket they both fall in to, and what sort of real world mpg they return. What do you all think? Any advice would be apreciated

ST170 tax is around Ł210 a year and mine was doing around the 27mpg mark. My mate has a TDCI, not sure on the tax but he is getting a consistant 45 - 50 mpg.

Ł178!!!!???

You are getting ripped off.. I payed Ł145 yesterday to tax my Mondeo ST TDCi........

Get a consistent 45mpg... drive it on the motorway at a steady 60 on the cruise control and it'll do 58mpg.. about 50mpg if its at 70.

Was just about to say about the price of yer road tax m8, my reminder just come through an its Ł145 for the year up a fiver on last year. I drive my TDCi like it's meant to be, an I average out 40 mpg, I have tried moderating my driving style and even when I do that over a long journey it doesn't even change that much, hmmm there could be something wrong?!

NO contest this one, a chipped ST TDCI, vastly quicker in everyday use.

An STTDCi even in standard forum will be just as quick, if not quicker in most aspects of driving. I do like the ST170's but you are getting a much better car with the TDCi. It will also be a much nicer drive, with all the low down torque. Should pull effortless in every gear.

Just so you know mate, the color of the two is slightly different; the TDCi is perfomance blue and the ST170 is Imperial blue.

Benni.
