so what are they selling? an email addy or your home address? considering the amount of shite received anyway another few bits of crap in the bin wont really make much difference to me.
On the old forum by default your profile was set to display your email address, also many people had their MSN on there.
There is software available that trawls through websites, building database of publically available information such as this.
So your email address (or msn address if thats the same) may well have been extracted from this forum, but it wouldnt have been sold by IB I suspect, as they would sooner market to you directly, its better business sense really as the moment they release your information to one company, that means that company could potentially do the same, even if they arent meant to.
On the new forum software, by default your email address isnt shown, so it shouldnt be an issue anymore, even on the old site though, frankly if you didnt want spam emails you shouldnt have had your email address public TBH!

do you know what that word means?
it doesnt mean "this is my biased opinion based on zero knowledge of the subject"

It may be now, but it wasnt on the old forum, as I viewed your profile to get contact information when I was after a wideband sensor from you.
Its the OLD forum they got your address from I suspect, NOT the new one.

Anyone who uses their primary email address to register with internet forums takes their chances IMO
Post up the header from the email, that's much more useful to see where it came from.

Indeed, the number of times the old board was hacked isnt even funny, it was practically daily at one point, so the question isnt who had access to the info, its more a case of who didnt.

Really not much point discussing ANYTHING beyond that point!

do you think that all the emails you get from nigerian princes wanting to give you $25million were because you signed up to a nigerian website?
