Default WHAT PARTS TO RENEW???

I'm gonna strip my engine down and see what state it's in and clean it all up a little...it's a 2wd cossie engine and it's running smooth and very quiet but it's out now anyway and I want to change the headgasket anyway's so I might as well...

Now what would you renew at the very least?

My guess:

headgasket
belt
mainbearings
conrodbearings
gaskets (duh )

maybe oilpump?

Would have replaced piston-rings and all oil-seals and gaskets.

And maybe valve-seals, and if needed valve guides in the cylinder-head.

i would do all the stuff you said, but get the surfaces on the head and block checked to make sure they are spot on if not get them decked/skimed if needed.

oilpump if yours is on the way out? check to see if the shells on the far side of the engine are more discoloured than the ones near the pump.
definatly do the oil pump drive though! only £7 and will save your engine if your old one is worn.

also do the conrod bolts, go for arp ones if you have the cash? about £80 i think

if its done a few miles then new rings and a re hone are also worth it.

baisically when shes in bits get the bores checked to see if they are oval at all?

im rebuilding mine at the moment with a new bottom end but have done the valve guides and cam followers as well.
if you want valve guides there is a guy selling them on ebay at the moment for £60-70 (£160 in the shops)

good luck with the rebuild and i hope you dont need a rebore cause that meens more money
