Default 17" Alloys on Escos's?

How come you never see them on Escorts?? Was just thinking I can't personally think of seeing many, if any on 17" rims..?

Any pictures? or reasons why people go for 18"/19" rims?

I don't think the cost difference is that big between 17 & 18 so most go for the larger size, gives more scope for bigger brakes in the future & they look better.

The thing I can't understand is why people go up to 18" and use the 'wrong' size tyres... (looks mainly I guess)

In an ideal world, I'd have kept the std alloys, but no decent brakes available at the time. Didn't go to 18" because I wanted to keep as near to the correct rolling radius. When going up a size in diameter, you're meant to go down a profile and increase width. Follow that on an 18" wheel, and things get a bit more complicated....

Car handles and rides better on the smaller wheel imo, and brakes are 355mm with 6 pots, so reasonably big.

Function over form in my case.

That doesn't hold water, as you have fitted 235/40x17 tyres on, which are only 1.5% difference in circumference than the ones I am running on my 18s .
