Default "Driving tuition" 4WD Driving Experiences

Can anyone Suggest any good driving Experiences using 4WD Car such as Evo's and Subarus ect?

I have looked at motorsport vision and trackdays.co.uk ect and they look more like a "trying it out for the first time fun" Rather than going there and really pushing my driving skills to the limit and learning me new tricks

Don’t get me wrong im no race car driver that is why i am looking for something like a day out in a 4WD Car with almost one on one tuition to sort out my bad habits give me a bit more control and show me what im doing wrong if anything

The engine is out of my car and will soon be 500+HP for almost pure track use and while 330hp was a doodle on the track after going in Mike R's car at Bedford with 430hp kicking the arse out show boating im certainly going to have my work cut out and a shock if i think i can get in a 500hp Tin can and think i can thrash it!

So can anyone point me in the right direction or suggest an Experience maybe Tarmac rallying?? a dedicated Evo day with smaller groups so there is more one on one time?

thanks for your time

Ben

your maybe right but still be lots to learn riving the car on gravel or loose tarmac?
or why not wait till your car is ready and contact your local track and instructor and see about getting lesson in your own car?would be the best car to learn in?
i know ian forrest does it at knockhill

There's a couple of guys who do this at Bruntingthorpe (in your own car from what I remember) - they set up a special track etc..

These seem very basic by comparison to what Ben wants.

i think that yo'll be looking at private tuition in your own car. a friend of mine done something like that at north weald in his elise. otherwise, most circuits have instructors on hand at trackdays

Thanks for the replys guys

I have found that the insturctors attrack days are good for showing you the lines ect but do not want to push you as there not sure of your driving capabilitys and dont want to 1 make you smash your car up and 2 kill them in the process lol! iver allways found after the instructor gets out that my knowlage of the track is a lot better but i cant allways to corners in the next gear down

Going out with tim in the Evo is deff somthing i want to do anyway and like you said Daviet it can only be a good thing but as i said to mike on the phone i want to do some real hard 4wd driving on some tracks for when the cars back teaching me a thing or 2

the only problem i have with learning in my own car is smashing it up, not saying i want to go out in tims evo and smash that up but if i build my Escos and then put it into a wall or roll it thats game over for me full stop.

Ben, that's why I suggested the Brunters option - no walls! So, learn the on limit handling traits & control at Brunters, and couple that with the track tuition?

Ben what about having Mike coach you? he knows the charactaristics of your car and its abilities better than mostl. Essentially time behind the wheel leads to more confidence which then leads to enhanced ability.

Brunters surface isn't track smooth, but they do sweep it now and again

The main straight is pretty wide, not sure how much looning they'd allow thesedays, the cheap prices per hour mentioned recently are, I think for shared usage of the track... so if they do allow it would depend what else is on that day.

Run off to the left of the main straight is trees , pretty much grass elsewhere (although you still wouldn't want to be taking a ride over it).

nice link nick will take a look

andy mike would be perfect but its all about time as mike has a family and when he gets a chance to get out and about i know he likes to be on track himself or be doing what he has planned! Mike tuition so far has been the bollocks "without giving him a big head" he has shown me loads and pushed me in my car further than anyone ever has! also i know mike doesnt want to learn me everything as then i would be to competetive on the track as he says "i cant tell you all my tricks"

thanks for the info bill

I was going to use www.cadence.co.uk a few years back to get the best out of my car, got round to ringing and discussing requirements but never actually booked, you can go on road or somewhere like Millbrook proving ground, and it's tailored to what you want, I understand they will teach you car control at the limit and it sounded perfect for what I wanted-maybe worth a phone call Ben.

Brunters on a wet day.

the first track day i did was the old school at Brunters and there were only cones out telling you where the track was,and yes i did hit some.

just throw you car about Ben and see how you go with it,with a decent co-driver who knows a bit about 4x4 handling,Mike maybe , then you can really see what the car is like when its sideways etc...

you will have to enquire how much Brunters is to hire it,maybe worth a try to try and get a few people there to help with the cost etc..., make a half day of it etc...

Throwing the car about is just waht i need to do thats whats a little worring to be honest! my biggest powerslide is a second gear sideways slide on track with 330hp and i can see 3rd with 500hp is going to be a little more frequent and scary

I think getting mike in the car and renting brunters for half a day with a few others is looking to be the best option
