As above, don't know about all the various diff' Buses, and would never think about buying one. But they do have thier own type of cool, especially when Cali' styled and slammed on Empi's etc

Split screens are worth an absolute fortune.

Beef them up with an engine change and some of them will make some sports cars look like there still in second gear

A mate of mine runs a bay window club and theres 2 vans that I know, of that run low to mid 13's!

Yeah, you could say thats rare.

I've seen a few Split Van's fetch that kind of money. There was a black on a couple of years ago. Stunning is a word that didn't do it any justice.

lol i was brought up with them my old man was like member 8 of the split screen owners club. was one of the first to put a porsche lump in 1 with downdrafts etc etc. used to tow the split oval beetle with it and win everythin with the pair for years! used to love goin to the shows. his splitty was on 5th gear years ago!

A impreza engine bolts straight in you know!!!! you could spend 3 times as much tuning a ford to do a good 1/4 mile as a vw.

I just sold my 1949 Beetle last month and bought an escort cossie

Dont be shocked at how much these things are worth. the vans are not really "That Rare" its just they have become very sought after/ popular trend the last 5 years. so thevre not for sale for long. I saw a 1949 beetle sell for $50,000 last year!!!!!
mine had 24hp, no indicators, no brake lights, a matal pid stick to check fuel level and cable brakes (similar to ur pushbike!!!!)

Cable brakes on a car, these days evan my mountain bikes have hydraulic (sp?) brakes. Loving this pick.

 

35k might be a bit steep imho but it is way cool and very sought after being a barndoor..a little pic of my first car ..wish id never sold it loved it to bits...
