Default Cossie ownership getting me down

Just when i thought everything was sorted on my coss, BAMM, another kick in the nuts.

Car was away for a week getting fuel pump changed and some wiring sorted, so decided to get her serviced, they advised me to get the power steering pump belt changed to which i agreed and one very large bill later, all was well, or so i thought.....

Got the car back and now, in less than a week shes sitting laid up on my drive.

Went to get fuel last night and as i was reversing out the drive the battery light came on and the steering went heavy, Mmm thats strange i thought, so pulled her back in and opened the bonnet, well fook me, the NEW belt was lying under the car with one side ripped to shreds. Came home today and had a look while it was light, put my hand on the tensioner and the fooker fell out, the single bolt on the back of it has snapped ARGGGGGGGGG. Tryed phoning the garage but the guy couldnt help as the main man was away and wont be back till monday.

So im not a happy bunny...

Sorry for the rant but had to get it off my chest..

I hope not mate, they will need to come and get her as she cant drive. I can see this being another headache and the car off the road for another week or so. On a brighter note, shes off to get her full respray within the next couple of weeks and im also going to add some shiney bits, hopefully that should put a smile on my face.

if they only changed the belt they should't have needed to touch the bolt that go's through the back of the tensioner, you only need to use the bolt on the front. It may not be there fault, just bad luck
bad news either way.

Chin up Lee, it'll be back on the road before you know it Suppose it's quite luck it happened where it did, it must have been just ready to go the last time you were out in it.

I was thinking that mate, BUT, the car has been driven everyday for the last 6 months including bringing it from wales to glasgow, yet within less than a week with a new belt fitted the bolt snaps. im no mechanic, but to me something wasnt checked properly as the new belt is shredded on one side, and it started squealing slightly the day before.

Looks like more money will have to be spent getting this fixed if the garage say it wasnt their fault.

Default Cossie ownership no longer getting me down.

Hi folks, i can now say that cosworth ownership, for the moment, is no longer getting me down

Got the problem with my tensioner sorted, was charged an hours labour as they couldnt say if it was their fault, though i did have to tow her to the garage.

Anyway shes all sorted now, serviced and tuned, she made about 230bhp @ the wheels, though she is a little lumpy at idle but was told that it could be the plugs as the ones used are harder than the standard ones, who knows, she runs great and pulls really well, for now

So its off to the paintshop in a week or so for a full strip down and respray, should be finished in a couple of weeks so i have started looking into buying some new bits and pieces, i have given myself a budget of 5k to spend on her, so hopefully get some nice shiney goodies but still undecided as to what to get (any ideas would be welcome).

So, all is good again and enjoying cossie ownership once again

It was a hell of a co incidence if itt was NOT down to them!!
At least I think they have been fair about the bolt episode, money wise, I think it is down to them but you can never prove it.
Good luck with the car, they are worth the pain.
