Exclamation Viscous Coupling 4x4 Cosworth

Viscous Coupling on a 4x4 cosworth is worn, is it bad to drive fast with a worn one!
I know that this sounds stupid but how much damage can be done.
I know that this controls the torque power to the front and rear wheels, and if worn l've been told transfers more to the rears, so should this be done as soon as possible?
My mate says that the drive feels no different even though he was told that his coupling was worn.
Thanks.

i had one go in my cosworth it was like driving a 2wd car! They can be beefed up and take more power this is done by improving the plates that are internally to the viscous coupling. Depending on were you are located i will pm you the details of were i got mine done.

Won't do any damage to drivetrain or gearbox then?

If the VC is leaking it's silicone fluid it's not very good for the condiiton of the oilk in transfer case but it shouldn't do much damage as there is only marginal volume of it anyway. Apart from being poor car to drive on the limit everything else should be fine. It isn't a big job on a Cossie htough so why not fix it?
