Default series 2 cooling

Im having heat issues with my 2.1 zvh, on a long run its fine, motor ways fine, general cruising is sweet, but as soon as i do short full boosts it gets realy hot pretty much at the top of the gauge.

Would i benifit from a oil cooler ?

Turbo cooler ?

Disconecting the water feed from turbo ?

Any info appreciated

I'm running pro-alloy rad and IC... But also have an Aritec turbo cooler which made a massive difference on full boost temps....

This is as the water heated by the turbo is ordinarily returned to the cold side of the radiator..therefore heating the water back up before it re-enters the block!?!?

The little turbo cooler now takes some of the temp out of the returned turbo coolant..
I am however not running a massive spec engine..Just blueprinted 1600cvh with kent cam, chip and -31 actuator.

Hope this sheds some light for you mate.

Well the Airtec one I bought is really easy to fit. It uses the original mount for the standard IC and bolts through the little hole next to the near side headlight.
Unfortunately it wont fit if you have a standard IC and rad.
Mine came with silicone hose and all the fittings, not to bad for £70.00.
If you got for the pro-alloy one its a bit harder to fit, unless you have their front mount IC and it bolts straight to it! Even though I have the Prolloy IC I did however go for the Airtec as it's half the price......

Get a switch wired into the fans, so you can have them on/off at your pleasure!

What size fans you got? Might need to buy new ones if you say they aint that big

The radtec intercooler I have fitted to mine is designed to allow air passage to the rad also.

I bet the fins to your intercooler are very thin but compact robbing the rad of its cool air. You should have the setup i.e. rad/int designed by 1 company. Have a look at the fins on a genuine RS500 intercooler and you will see they are spaced quite wide to give the rad some air also.

Take the thermostat out and see if it still gets hot as quickly....if it still runs way too hot with no stat at all you've got problems elsewhere as the radiator will be cooling as well as it's ever going to with the stat out, as in the water will be flowing round the rad from cold.Wouldn't advise running no stat in cold weather tho.

As above, Rad' may be very sludged up if a bit long in the tooth, may need beefier fans (have you checked Fans are spinning in the right direction???)

Good mod' ( and cheap too) is to fit a 82 degree 'stat & 88 degree fan switch

Got my stat & fan switch from Burton ( think 'bout £10 for the pair) but no doubt cheaper elsewhere.

Have you checked fan direction??
