Default Where Are All The Nice Cars Gone???

hi everyone, help me !!! ive been looking for a S2 rs turbo for months and every car i go to see is a complete dog, with either rusty roofs, arches ready to fall off, shoddy paintwork, ect... where have all the nice cars gone.. im willing to pay sensible money for one, like up to 4000 but even the ones priced that high aint the best.
i understand that they aint new cars anymore but there must be some clean almost rust free ones out there!! can anyone help??

The nice cars are still about but unfortunately there is usually a difference between what the owners want to sell then for and what people are willing to pay

Gotta be realistic they are 20 years old nowadays so finding mint ones is gunna be hard work. Minters are around but rarely come up for sale on the open market as everyone has a mate who will take it off their hands.

I was in the same boat, found one with mint body work and a few decent extras but a questionable engine, made an offer based on assuming the worse on the engine and it was accepted, were all happy

its funny when a mint one with 50k miles comes up for around 5k most people are up in arms saying 'an old escort isnt worth that you mug', and thats on a ford enthusiast site

if people are after advice on buying a S2 just buy a completly standard one that is rust free, dont matter if you have to do little bits to anything apart from the body!!

good luck finding one, there is central day at santa pod soon, you may be able to see a few nice ones there and you never know you may be able to buy one

tryin to find a 20 year old rust free rs is like tryin to find a 20 year old virgin

most have some sort of resto done in the past, sadly very little have had them done proper

imo people sell rst's cos of there probs,so expect to buy one with hidden probs, budget for this

as long as the bodywork is in good nick then people advertise them as mint

I got mine for 1750 + the wreckage of my Capri. 18 month old original red paint, not one spot of rust, 170+ bhp efi engine, cossie breaks and a whole host of other positives. Its absolutely mint in my opinion! Absolute bargain! When selling I will want 4k+ for it though gotta be able to afford a saff

I paid quite a bit for mine but it was worth every penny.
I think mine is the most reliable car ive ever had lol its mint as a useable road car is ever gonna be.
I spent a long time looking for one and hassled the guy for ages to sell it to me because i knew he treated it so well.
They are few and far between and when a really good one comes up few people are interested in paying the price for one, most seem interested in buying crappers and spending loads on them in the long run.
I toy with the idea of selling up but i don't know what i would get after it.
Probably be tempted to make tony turbo an offer

if i ever mention i have a few rs's people tell me about minters , then i go see em and they are all fucked, my 1.3 bonus is better than 90% of em and i consider that a shitter (Ł800 buys it- full turbo spec)

so many botched restos

One thing i hate is peoples power predictions i have mine converted aftermarket managment stage 3 everything 227bhp its quick but theres so many people yer 250 brake standard intercooler, 300 on mfi, 200 brake just exhausts and air filters i just laugh and say just wait ill show you a real one

As said above by a few people...the trouble is that people don't wanna spend the money on a properly specced/clean car. As soon as anyone asks over 4k they get laughed at but in reality...and i learnt the hard way it costs sooo much money to get a cheapish ok rst to a high level of tune/condition. I've spent 15-20k over the 4 years i've had mine which is why there's no way i'd let it go for 4k so may as well hold onto it! If i did it again i'd spend top money and buy a minter then not have to spend thousands on it as soon as i got it home. Just my opinion tho of course!
