Question mk6 rs 2000 hunting

also looked at a few that when first fired up hunt a bit till you drive them is this a normal problem sorry for my ignorance but im a cvh boy lol

it is hunting wildly (nearly stalling) perhaps spluttering at low revs when driving then its most likely the Idle speed control valve at fault. These can be cleaned up, failing that a new one from fords is about Ł90. Quite a common fault on these cars. Bad coil pack wiring, coil packs can also cause this. If its just a mild hunt at idle i wouldn't worry about it to much. Mine occasionally does this from time to time for no particular reason.

Rough idle can also be attributed to an air leak on the inlet system. A quick test is to un-plug the ISCV's electrical plug, the engine should stall right away, if it chugs on then you have an air leak
